Miitopia Lets You Embarass Your Friends With amiibo Costumes
Miitopia is a mashup of Streetpass Quest & Tomodachi Life that came out late last year in Japan, with the full version releasing on July 29th here in Australia. Nintendo released a demo a few weeks ago that contains the introduction to the game and will even let you transfer your save file over to the full game when it releases. It includes the game’s amiibo functionality, so get in early and start scanning!
Once you have beaten the first boss of the game, the dreaded butterfly, you unlock a path leading up to a strange girl dressed as Mario. She’s a huge Nintendo fan girl, and naturally she is obsessed with amiibo and wants to see them all.
Well, by ‘all’ she means just 26 specific ones, and she’s even picky about amiibo cards! Below is a list of characters that she approves of and will give you the corresponding costume of when you scan an amiibo figure of them. While some of these characters also have amiibo cards, she will ask to see their figure instead. Classy.
Mario
Luigi
Yoshi
Peach
Daisy
Rosalina
Toad
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Link
Zelda
Ganondorf

Kirby

Samus
Zero Suit Samus

While the costumes aren’t great defensively (even being a downgrade within the first 30 minutes of the game) you can assign either the hat or clothing to wear cosmetically while not affecting your stats. For items such as Toad, Yoshi or the Splatoon characters, you’re able to change the colours of the outfit to suit your mood. So now you are free to roam around the world of Miitopia wearing a decapitated Yoshi head and Samus’ Power Suit! Lovely!
You can import Miis of your friends, family and nemeses to play with, as I’ve done here with our lovely and totally compliant and willing editor Josh – isn’t he pretty?
Miitopia launches on July 29th for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
